Deviantart is the fountain of art

•April 18, 2013 • 1 Comment

Recently as I was trolling PR Daily I came across an article about the new up and coming social medias. Along with Whisper and the Chinese version of Facebook, DeviantArt was among the few. I have known about the site for the past few years and was quite surprised that more people haven’t heard about it yet. I am really into it because I have access to many peoples art from tons of different genres. I think it’s super cool because it makes communities for artists to share their work with people who enjoy the subject. Once you create an account you can set up a profile for yourself, submit your own works whether it’s an image or writing, you can search through topics you like and find groups or specific artists to “watch” and you will get messages of all the new posts. You can also favorite things so that you can go back and look at them. The site also gives a lot of good artists the recognition they deserve to have so for this late weekly post I am going to share a few pictures that I have saved over the years and as a pre-warning most of them will probably be manga/anime related. If any of the work is the property of my readers or someone they know I would like to thank them for their work and that I enjoy being able to spread your talent for the masses to see.

The Infernal Devices

The Infernal devices

Since I had this weekend off I got the chance to read the final book in a trilogy I have been reading and waiting for. I have to say that this was one of the best series I have read. The Infernal Devices is a prequel to my previous review of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. This is virtually the beginning of everything and this book had so many elements to it it was amazing. It is a love story wrapped in a whimsical and fantastic world that resembles the real world. There were so many emotions involved in this book anger, sadness, fear, happiness, heroes, honor and of course a million literary references that fit the story very well.

Tumblr Addict

•March 31, 2013 • 2 Comments

As this is a blog for my PR class I figured I could do something that is kind of related to social media. I did a presentation in class about the uses of Tumblr but I left out how addicting it can be especially for personal Tumblrs. When I have nothing to do I find myself trolling Tumblr. Once you have your account set up and follow a lot of different blogs that peak your interest you can keep scrolling for hours especially on your dashboard or specific pages that have a lot of content. I also love that Tumblr monitors the blogs that I constantly like or reblog since that is what most of my blog consists of and sharing artists work from DeviantArt because I believe that more people should be seeing how great their work is. For this post, I think I am just going to put up some of the great things I find on Tumblr because it’s a great site to find just about anything you like and people that share the same interests.

Punk Rock What?

•March 30, 2013 • Leave a Comment

As the semester is flying by I find myself in the library constantly working on this paper or this project. I almost always have my headphones in and I listen to Slacker Radio, which is almost the same Pandora but in my opinion, it’s better because it rarely deviates from the kind of music that I want to listen to. For this late post, I figured I would cover my 5 favorite bands and my current favorite song from them.

1. The Maine

These guys are my all time favorite and I am completely devoted to them. I have gone to their last three shows without missing a beat. The first was in Minneapolis when they opened for Taking Back Sunday, which is another one of my fave bands, the second was their own show in Minneapolis at The Varsity Theater. The third time I saw them was last fall in Chicago and it was the best trip ever! Not only am I in love with their music I also think that they are fantastic to their fans, they always seem to be doing something special and engaging with their fans and I think that is the best thing that a band could do. For me, it is really hard to pick my favorite song from them so I will just share their big hit Into Your Arms.

The key to the kingdom.

Over this spring break, I didn’t go anywhere but I had quality time to devote to video games. As a kid, I loved playing my PS2 but as I got older I stopped playing and ended up selling it. Well now that I’m a college student I have reverted back to my old ways and even though there are newer and better gaming consoles I bought a PS2 again and my first game is Kingdom Hearts and I am devoted to finally beating the whole thing. Kingdom Hearts is a combination of Disney, Final Fantasy, and The World Ends with You. I have a huge love for Disney, as does the rest of my generation, and I had briefly played Final Fantasy before and got pretty into it so I easily fell for it. I just found The World Ends with You for my DS and so far I’ve enjoyed it, so I figured that’s why I like it so much.

Pretty Little Lies

•March 11, 2013 • 2 Comments

I have a tendency to get extremely involved in TV shows and Pretty Little Liars is no exception. I usually watch it religiously with one of my friends and get all upset and yell at the TV screen. If she wasn’t so used to me freaking out all the time she would probably think I was really weird. The best thing about this show is that it has a little bit of everything suspense, mystery, great fashion, lies, secrets and good looking guys to top it off. The story is about four high schools girls, Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer, who are being tormented and being thrown into life-threatening situations for them and anyone they get close to. Now I know it’s an ABC Family show but in my opinion, it is nothing but family friendly.

Hayao Miyazaki the Great

•March 6, 2013 • 1 Comment

I have a tendency to watch a lot of anime but as a child, I watched a movie called My Neighbor Totoro and that’s where my love began. The movie was created by an amazing film director, animator, manga artist, and screenwriter. He uses an old school technique of painting directly on to the film. He makes beautiful images and crafts genius stories. Since I own most of his major movies on DVD so I figured I would talk about my top five favorite movies.
